SQL 2005 Log In Failed For User "user"

  • My name is Chuck and I work for a company that supports a medical billing package. This year they released an upgarde wich involved migrating from SQL 2000 to 2005. Installs for both use Mixed Authentication for SQL. Since moving to SQL 2005, some clients are getting Log In Failed For User "Lytec User". Lytec is the name of the software. We have no clue as to what is causing this error. So far the only commonality seems to be client that run a server operating system on their server, most notebly Windows 2003 Server R2 Service Pack 2. Any assistance or insight from a SQL guru would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

    Welcome to SQLServercentral 🙂

SQL Server 2005 supports password policy for SQL Logins, can you check whether the login used through applicaiton is enabled for password policy??

Check any Orphan Id's present in the database? If yes correct the same, refer link below
