Hello,
Take a look at the tools provided by SQL Solutions: http://www.sqlsolutions.com
In particular we use SQL Heartbeat.

Idera makes several tools that I was happy with.
Redgate & Quest also make good tools

In the past I used Foglight from Quest, but I wasn't crazy about it. We're using Operations Manager from Microsoft for server monitoring. It also works pretty well on the bigger picture within SQL Server and for failed jobs and the like. It's not so good for database monitoring.
I recently evaluated the Red Gate SQL Response tool. It's good. Easy to use and quick to set up. Unfortunately it's not quite what we need, so we're giving it a pass. I'm in the process of (finally) evaluating Idera's SQL Monitor. It's pretty good. It seems to get into the tactical database stuff that we're not getting from Operations Manager.

Also, I think most companies give you a trial period so you can download them and give them a try. That's the best evaluation to see if it suits your needs.
