HTTPS and Client Certificates

  • Is it possible to use Reporting Sevices with HTTPS AND Client Certificates = "required" ??

After some hours of troubleshooting and googling i get Reporting Services successful working with HTTPS. But it works only if i set in IIS on virtual directory "ReportServer" the property client certificates = "ignore" or "accept". If i set it to "required" i get following error on this Url: https://localhost/reports

The request failed with HTTP status 403: Forbidden 🙁

This Url seems to work properly: https://localhost/reportserver

    My system configuration

    - Windows Server 2008 (IIS 7)

    - SQL Server 2005 SP 2

    Any ideas!?

    Regards

    Daniel

  • No ideas??

I found the same question here: http://www.sqlreportingservices.net/Ask/6509.aspx

But there is no solution too.

  • by default certificates don't identify anyone. you'll have to configure IIS to accept client certificates and map them to local user accounts (or come up with your own authentication mechanism).
