Full and trans on same device

  • is it ok to have full and transactional backup on same device?

or would you guys recommend seperate disk device for each

    thx

  • I don't use devices ever.

I want separate files for every backup. If you have 2 or more backups on a single device or file and something happens, you could lose a lot of data.

If you want devices, do not mix full and logs. Same reasons. Use a separate device for each.

  • ok thx

  • You could use it on the same device provided you have a mechanism to backup those files onto tape drives. In my company, this is the process being following that too for production databases.

    Thanks.

I would suggest it's depend on the organization and DBA, how they wana implement the DB structure. If there is no issues then I would recommand you to go with seprate Drive. If not you can use the same drive but make sure withdiff. folders. Again It's upto organization and You.
