Connection Error

  • Hi,

I am getting following error in sql server 2005 enterprise edition.

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. "

Pls reply me as soon as possible.

  • Hi,

There may be many reasons why the sqlserver was not connecting.Check the following.

    1. Check whether you are able to connect locally in the machine where sql 2005 was installed. If you are unable to connect check out whether the services are started or not. If the services are not started start the services and if the services are not getting started check out the eventviewer for any errors.

    2. If you can connect locally check out whether the remote connections are enabled in the surface area configuration. If not enable the remote connections and restart the services. Even though if you are unable to connect check out whether any firewall is blocking the ports 1433 and 1434. If you are unable to find whether the ports are blocked contact ur network Administrator.

Please let me know if you require any other help.

    Thanks
