Retrieving info from configuration database (SQL SERVER - SPS)

    Guys

    I am lookg for some help in terms of SharePoint Portal backend. Currently i am working in SPS 2003 and back end is SQL Server 2000. SQL server her has got two databases integrated with SPS. one is Content and other is Configuration. I am trying to invoke an .NET application under SPS sercurity areas.

    What i need is i want to know how and were will i get the SPS configuration saved in configuration database.

    Also, would like to know how SQL server stores pages (.aspx) in database and what is the idea behind that ??

    Is it that critical to deal with SPS Database? Can't we have some interaction with SPS database like adding new field or updating it or retriving it ... something??

    Possibly the 'Web part pages' or 'Webs' areas in the following url could help you. You can definitely query SPS for info on what it contains.
