Hi ,
It will be very benefitial if you can add a snapshot of the original post for reference when a user replies to that post. It helps in framing the reply more accurately.

I second that and would add that it would be best if when replying you could see at a minimum, the original post and the post you clicked Reply on when that post is not the same as the original. I personally launch a new tabe/page in IE for a rpely post so that I can refer back to any part of the post.
Thanks

When you click reply, there is a "Last 10 Posts" section below the edit box and reply options. It is closed by default, but you can open it to see the last 10 posts in full.

+1, I initially wanted to see previous posts too, then found this, expand it, and all is good

Wow! I had no clue that was there. Thanks for pinting this out Steve!
Now if we could just get teh orginal post to show; perhaps in a seperate window so when a posting has a lengthy following (many replies) one can see the orginal post along with the last 10. Or better yet, if when you click on 'Reply' on a post that is not the original or the last posting, then in your reply screen you see the orginal post followed by the one you clicked on to Reply and the the expanding last 10 posts as we see now.
I realize this is aksing a lot but if one is going to make requests, might as well go all the way. 🙂
Thanks again!

Good point, and it might be something we ask Instant Forums (the maker of the software) to include it. I can see value in the OP.
Popping a new window doesn't work well. We used to do that and people were very annoyed.
Thanks for the suggestion and keep them coming.

Here's another one Steve, it's at least the 10th time I see people asking for a way to see the last posts with the reply button... anyway to make those posts visible by default instead of hidden?

I'll add that one to the list. I think it's saved in your cookie.

Don't think it is in a cookie, cause I always need (and always want to) see the last 10. On another note, I don't think it matters which post you are responding to, your post just gets added to the end of the thread.
However, you can use the "Quote" option to start with all of the reply you are responding to, and then discard whatever you don't want before you post. (It is good to use the "Preview" option, cause you can screw up the IFCode shortcuts.)
(If makes you feel any better, a lot of us had to be shown the "Last 10" option too.)

Quote works fine, just be judicious in what you quote. Hard to read when someone quotes 5 paragraphs.
