The backup has been created right size date etc normal run time, the SQL log reports a backup had taken place no error. In the event view I get a warning that the backup failed event ID 208. I don’t understand the backup is there it was successfully why is it reporting as failed?

Look at free space on the drive your writing to. Also, have a look at these links. Varied answers but they may provide some other direction towards a resolution.
