Hi,
i've been trying to register my MS SQL Server to my local machine but it says that its does not exist or acces denied.
i've tried different approach already but still i cant add the said server;
i've tried;
register using ip
check on both client and server network configuration (port 1433)
update service pack i now have sp4
check on logs and found tcp is not used as protocol, but it is already set in network utility.
trien restart the server..
did i miss something?!?
now im focused on that tcp/ip protocol
i wonder why SQL server does not lissen to that port where in fact i've already set it, installed a sp4 and restart the server...
i've benn googling this but i found no answer...
please help...

do you have a valid id on the sql instance?. see if you can connect to it via Query analyser.

You are executing SQL Server 2000 w/SP4. What OS is it on ? Are there any anolalies in the System Security Event logs ?
