I’ve noticed on this site the vote for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3. I don’t know if I even have SP1 installed. By looking at the following info, can anyone tell me what I have and should I install SP 1 and 2?
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express9.00.3042.00
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)2000.085.1022.00 ((Webdata).030220-1508)
Microsoft MSXML3.0 5.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer6.0.2800.1106
Microsoft .NET Framework2.0.50727.42
Operating System5.0.2195 (W2K Pro)
Thanks.

What is the build number on your SQL Server install? Not Management Studio, but SQL Server.
Run select @@version to check.
Build numbers are here: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Administration/2960/
You don't need to install SP1 if you install SP2. They are cumulative. There are a lot of fixes, but SP2 had some issues and there are actually a number of Cumulative Updates (6) to date that go on top of SP2.
