SQL 2000 Maintenance Plans in 2005 Management Studio

  • Okay, this has probably been asked before, but I can't find it easily by searching.

I was just handed a SQL 2000 server and asked to set up maintenance plans on it, but I don't have Enterprise Manager available. I've been using SQL 2005 exclusively for a while now, so all I have is Management Studio.

I can see the existing maintenance plan (all it does is daily full backups and hourly log backups), but there doesn't seem to be an option for setting up new ones.

When I've administered 2000 before, it's always been in Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer. I've never even tried to use Management Studio for it. (Write queries for 2000 in SSMS? Yep, tons of times. Set up DTS packages, maintenance plans, scheduled scripts? Nope, haven't tried that.)

Any suggestions? Am I missing something obvious here? Is there an easy way to get Enterprise Manager that I'm overlooking?

  • Never mind. Managed to get a hold of a copy of Enterprise Manager. Good to go!
