SQL 2005 Reporting Services with Services Pack 2

  • I am new to SQL 2005, and just update it to services pack 2. Now the problem is that I want to install Reporting Services and can't setup the database connect in the configuration tool. I can create a new Report server database but when it get to the part upgrade it said, "Couldn't generate the upgrade script. There is no upgrade script available for this database version." It try to generate upgrade script for database version C.0.8.40. Can someone help me with a solution or a work around?

  • I am assuming that you service packed SQL before you tried to install Reporting Services.

After you service pack SQL 2005, you have to add additional components using a command line.

Have a look at this article.

Wish this was a hard error - or they'd make it work the way you'd think it should.

Looks like I'm not the only one who's done this.

  • I think there's also an article available on how to rebuild some of the registry entries if needed.

I'll be out for about a week. Let me know if you need me to look for it. Don't expect it right away though - I'll have to dig a bit to find it.

Lots of great people sharing helpful hints on this site. Helped me learn quite a bit just reeading the posts. Give back when I can.

  • I also get this message: There is no upgrade script available for this database version." It try to generate upgrade script for database version C.0.8.40

I read the link greg posted but did not find anything there that I thought would help.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Thanks

  • HI there,

Did you find a solution to this problem? I have come up against the same thing. My Version is 9.00.3054.00. The only strange thing I know of, is that the SQL Engine was installed from the Enterprise Edition and the Reporting services edition is a Developer Edition. Not sure if I need to remove the SQL Engine first and install the whole lot as Developer Edition. Documentation says I shouldn't have to but still.

    Thanks

    Matt
