last 'stable' service Pack for 2005?

  • What Service pack should I be installing on my new 2005 install?

  • You can install SP2 for SQL 2005 so that you would have the lastest installed.

  • Thanks MUCH!!!!!!

This may sound stupid but here goes.... I copied this from the 2005 sp2 download page...

    System Requirements

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1; Windows Vista; Windows XP Service Pack 2

    32-bit systems (x86)

PC with Intel or compatible Pentium III 600 MHz or higher processor (1 GHz or faster recommended)

    64-bit systems (x64, ia64)

    1GHz or faster processor

Minimum of 512 MB of RAM (1 GB or more recommended)

675 MB of available hard disk space

My question is.... I know we're going to have a 64bit OS...butwhat is the difference between x64 and ia64????? ??????????

  • I believe IA64 is Itantium processors and x64 are for other 64 bit CPUs.

As far as stability I think you go to SP2 and only apply the cumulative updates for issues you're having. I'm not sure I'd say CU5 is the right one.

  • Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
