SQL Express does support a pull subscriptions.
What you cannot have is SQL Express as a publisher.

OK... I'm a newbie returning after a several months absence... here's the scenario: Express Edition (Compact ed?) does not support scheduling regular backups, so the goal is to use a different machine, with SS2k5 Std Ed to 'pull' a subscription from EE (CE?) and then backup from the copies, since that will not require interrupting the production's database online capabilities.
1. Is this feasible?
2. Is it difficult? I'm not looking for the answer on a silver platter, but just direction(s) to go in ... since I'm supposed to know this already, but don't, or forgot it through lack of use...
3. We will need to maintain both 'onsite' and 'offsite' backups because of the nature of the client - the assumption is that a replication / backup schedule which reduces data loss windows to under 15 minutes will be acceptable (perhaps 5?) - a fairly low transaction volume here...
TIA!
Steve
