I have SQL Server 2K5 SP2 build 3790. I was able to set up Data Mirroring for primary-mirror-witnes setup with primary and mirror located on different Win servers, and witness using another instance (just for test) of the server where primary instance is located.
I am replacing another DBA in this company. Original mirroring setup was done under my login. Then our system admin decided had to do login maintenance to fix other issues. He removed my login, and renamed previous DBA login with mine.
I can now log into system nd SQL Server without problem. But setting Mirroring gives error on primary server endpoint: "An implicit login creation has failed. Reason: The login may have been dropped or its name may already be in use, Error 15145.
Any insight will be apreciated.

My guess is that you need to drop the endpoint and recreate it.

Thank you, Steve. After all the troubles reconciling different db objects with their owner logins , my login was recreated ( drop/create), and the problem went away.
I was wondering about this mysterious "implicit login" in the error message. I was looking for clues, but could not find explanation at Microsoft or Internet.
Thanks for responding.

My guess is that the endpoint owner got "orphaned" similar to how a user can be orphaned when you restore on a new server without the login.
Glad it's working!
