Database Production Support ideas

  • Hi All,

Recently my company got a contract to support one of its clients production unit. They had asked me to list out the

the points and send him a document on what we will be supporting the database in the production environment.

I am little bit confuse, need your ideas and input to complete my list.

In my document these are the list of database support:

    >> Installation

    >> upgredation

    >> Applying patches

    >> Migration from SQL to different 3rd party Database

    >> Database Performamance tuning

    >> Database corruption handling

    >> Setting up cluster

    >> Seting up Replication

Your views and ideas are welcome !!

    Thank you for spending time.

  • Use third party toold for Alerting or write code in SQL to send you an alert.

Backup Third party toold if DB's are large in size. On call Support to the PROD env.

Upgrade your server with latest SP's and version.

And almost you coverd in your points.

    Use some reporting things too.

It's usually better to do this before you estimate and bid on a contract.
