our company recently decided to switch to SQL Server 2005 on new applications.
after login to this site, I found out all subjects are made for existing and experience members.
for a newcomer recently from Oracle or DB2, we certainly wanted to have some leads to start with.
such as sites to get more knowledges, or FAQ, or problem reporting, or getting technical advices, or getting recommendataions, etc.
an one-time overview package would greatly appreciated.
then we can take time to blend in this community.

What kind of package do you have in mind?
What do you need to learn to get on with your day to day business with as little surprises as possible?

We tried leaving a tray of donuts near the door - but they never survived more than a few minutes....We just don't have that kind of willpower:)
That being said - welcome!
There's a wealth of knowledge stored in the articles and editorials areas, often leading to many other worthy info sites as well. There's also a whole slew of mind-expanding tidbits to be gleaned from the many scripts in the scripts area. Third - once you get a bit more comfortable and you want to try your hand at some not so routine issues/details, try hitting the Quote of the day area and see how many you can answer. Otherwise - hit the forums - fire off a question and see what responses you get!

We actually have lots of newbie type articles. The high end stuff typically ends up in SQL Mag or someplace else.
That being said, what types of things are you looking for? If you want to get familiar with 2005, I'd recommend a few things:
