Backup using msmdarch

    Hi guys, I have a question regarding the AS backup…

    I migrated the repository to the msdb database on my server. So far that worked ok.

    But today I realized that the backups made with msmdarch.exe create a 3KB .CAB file (fairly small size). Digging into this I realized that the Data (Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data\) folder inside the server is gone… I suppose this was made because of the repository migration.

    Is this true?

    If so, need I to keep creating backups using msmdarch.exe or just is needed to backup the msdb database?

    Forget my question. I didn't remembered that I changed the default Data location when installing.

    I corrected the script to that path and all worked ok.

    yes, due to repository changed..data folder is not working. just verified your connection string. May be their will be some problem as well.

    You should take analysis backup with msmdarch command. Only msdb database backup will not work for restoring analysis database
