So I have installed SQL Server 2005 Express on my pc and I am not able to create an ODBC DSN connecting to it. It just does not show up in the drop-down list. Entering the name results in an error telling me the SQL Server does not exist or is inaccessable.
I can do anything via Management Studio, use Windows Authentication and I have admin rights on my pc.
Do I miss something here?

You probably want to go into the Surface Area configuration, and turn on "remote connections". I'm pretty sure that ODBC is considered a remote connection (even if the connection is being call from the same machine).

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?
