Perfmon - SQL Server:Locks counters grayed out

  I'm trying to add the SQL Server:Locks counters to Perfmon, but the add button is grayed out. That's the case with a lot of the SQL Server counters. I can add some, but not all of them. I can add SQL Server:Latches counters, but not SQL Server:Databases. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

  Sounds like a problem registering the counters. Is there anything in the application event log indicating an issue with the counters in question?
