Service Startup Account

  • I have noticed that on a couple of my servers the SQL Server Service Startup Account options are disabled and cannot be amended.

This is not the case on all of the servers.

Does anybody know why this would be and what - (if anything) - I can do about it...?

We are using WIN2k advanced server with SQL2000 sp3.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Sorry, forgot to mention that this only appears to be the case dependant upon which Management Console I'm viewing from...

  • To my understanding, If you register that server using Windows Authentication (Trusted) you need Local Admin rights on the server to be able to edit this option.

    .

  • That's what I thought, thing is I have got local admin rights on the server.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe there is something to do with the relationship between the server that the SQL Server is on, and the server from which you are accessing it...

  • Can you also check how you registered this SQL Server from MMC?

Is it using "sa" or Windows NT? Are these two boxes in two seperate domains?

    .

  • Trusted connection, but they are on separate domains...

  • Can you try using "sa" account? Must be something to do domains...  But you should be good to go with "sa" account registration...

    .

  • Did you resolve this?  WHat if hte server runing SLQ is a domain controller?  Does it change the way SQL operates?  I am having similiar problem.
