Can somebody tell me how to solve this problem please?
I couldn't connect to the database engine, when I try to connect, it shows the following message:
Login failed for user 'PC\User'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)
It was working fine before I format the HDD, after reinstalling the OS and SQL I got this problem.
So I am expecting somebody can tell me the way to solve this, I am using Vista OS
Thank you,

Reformatting your drive and reinstalling Windows & MS SQL is not a small thing 🙂 You might as well have an entirely new computer.
Anyhow, you are logged into Windows as a user called "User". This user doesn't have access to MS SQL Server. Could you log in to Vista as an administrator? Alternatively, when you installed MS SQL, were you asked for an SA password. If so, try to connect using "SQL Authentication" and use the sa account with the sa password. Once in you can grant the PC\User user access to the server.

This problem has been solved successfully by adding a new administrator in the configuration of SQL. The problem was caused not proper configuration.
Anyway, thanks for the repply
