Hi
I have an sqlserver 2000 server.Both MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVER AGENT are running same account. One day sqlserver agent failed .
when i tried to start the services through windows services I got message
agent started and stopped.Please help me how to start the sqlagent without re installing the sqlserver.

Please check the SQL error logs and the Windows event logs for messages as to why the agent stopped.

I checked event viewer I got this error
SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server '(local)'; SQLServerAgent cannot start).

This normally means the account you use to run SQL Agent does not have logon rights to SQL Server.
