SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and service packs

  • Hello,

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and ran select @@version and got the following:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (Intel X86) Oct 14 2005 00:33:37 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)

It says Service Pack 2 but the release date is so old. Do I need to install the post-March 2007 Service Pack 2?

I checked Steve's build list below but did not see this build on the list.

    Thanks for any help!

  • That version of SQL Server 2005 does not have SP 2 installed.  In the @@version, the service pack 2 mentioned, I believe, is for the OS you are running on.  SP 2 of SQL Server 2005 should take the version number to 9.0.2042.?.

  • Ah, yes, that makes sense.

Thanks for pointing that out. 🙂
