how to edit a saved ssis package

  • We used the export/import wizard and created/saved a ssis package.  I can connect to the Integration Services and list the saved packages, how do I edit the ssis package??  Thanks for the help..Richard

  • Open SQL Management Studio - connect SSIS. Expand the stored packages folder. Locate the saved package, right-click and select export package. An alternative - launch VSS, create a new SSIS project. Once the project is loaded, right-click on the SSIS Packages folder and select add existing package.

  • What should I use for options on the export wizard, would I select the File System?  And once exported, how do I open it? What is VSS?  Would I use SQL Server Business Inteligence Development Studio?  Thanks again for the help!!

  • Correct - export to File System, launch VSS, create a new project and choose add existing item from the SSIS packages folder in VSS. Select file system again and browse to the location of the *.dtsx file. Business Intelligence is more or less a lightweight version of VSS - preference really.
