Editing a stored procedure in a SQL 2000 DB using SQL 2005 Mgt Studio

  • Hi there

I'm completely new to SQL 2005 and I hope this is a simple answer!

I have a SQL 2000 database that I've registered on a SQL 2005 server. Now management studio is very different to enterprise manager and when I choose modify on the stored procedure it opens up a .sql file and then i have to save it as a different name!!

How can I just edit the existing SP using SQL Management Studio?

    Thanks in advance

    Dave

  • you are doing the correct thing, just run you script as normal and close it when you are done. Or  if you want to save the script goto [File ->Save As]

Everything you can imagine is real.

  • Thanks for your reply, I didn't realise that it runs an Alter SP command, I assumed it opened thge actual SP.

    Thanks again!
