Hi,
I just did a fresh install of SQL Server 2005 on an stand alone server. When I tried to apply service pack1, I got the following error:
Your account information could not be verified for one
or more instances
Checked the setup log and the following error is noted:
Failed to receive sysadmin status for RS instance
I tried the sa account and windows authentication and verified that both accounts have sysadmin rights. Why am getting this error and how can I get around it?
Thank you very much for your help.
Mickey

i had some weird errors similar to this when installing SP1. When I set up our QA servers i keep them in windows authentication until i need to activate the sa account and put back the logins that were there before.
with sql 2000 we just used our windows accounts to authenticate when installing SP4
