Question re: MSDE

    Some developers installed MSDE (MS Desktop Engine) as their database. I've never used that creature before.

    Can I backup its databases using Sql 2K EM on a seperate box? (I presume the MSDE "sql server" name is the same as the box it's installed on.)

    Yes, consider it as another instance of SQL Server 7. You can Register it into EM and use it just as another server. The name of the instance is the same as the server. there are some restrictions with MSDE, for example, there is a max size for the database. I'm not sure but I think it was around 2 Gb.
