The other day our company experienced a power outage. When the power was restored, one of our servers would not reboot properly. I want to stress that I was not present during this process! LOL! Anyway, long story short, someone reinstalled Windows Server 2003, which wiped out, among other things, SQL Server 2000. The data files are still where they should be but I have had to reinstall SQL Server. The problem is that none of the previously existing databases are being displayed in Enterprise Manager, just the ones that come with a new installation are there. How do I get SQL Server to find and display the old databases?

open Enterprise Manager right click on databases - all tasks - attach database.
In the new form click the button with (...) and then browse to your databases.

If all of the user database .mdf files and .ldf files are still pesent on your server then you can just restore the master database and things should come up fine after the restart. You should also restore the msdb database as well for database maintenance plans and such. You do not mention if you are using full text search or DTS, these portions of functionality have different recovery processes.
