  • I am looking for a book / manual  with a CD for the actual program to learn .

Where can i find such a thing?

  • Learn what?

    Basic SQL?

    ANSI SQL?

    T-SQL?

    Advanced T-SQL?

    Performance tuning?

    ???

First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

  • hi,

there is a free version of SQL 2005., called SQL Server 2005 express, it comes with Books Online and is a very good way to learn SQL 2005. have a look for the download at microsoft.com There is also a forum on here for any further questions.

  • Thanks,

but I wish you would have pointed excatly which forum is that here

  • And we wish you would have pointed exactly which aspect of SQL Server you wanted to focus on first.

There are no quick fixes. SS2k5 is an involved, complicated software with many aspects to it. For instance, posting your question under the correct forum would have made for a better beginning. This is the 'older' SQL forum - SQL Server 2005 has its own set of forums. You will have better luck fishing in the pond where the fish swim, not in the empty pond.

    Welcome to the Forums!

  • El,

There are many books on learning SQL Server... and I realize you may not know enough about it to ask the kind of questions you probably need answers for...

Take a look at "Microsoft Press" books... there are some on Administering SQL (can be a full time job all by itself) and writing/implementing SQL.  Those who do both well typically have years of experience under their belt... one or two books probably won't cover it but the Microsoft Press books are straight from the horse's mouth.
