Problem:We have 2 servers, running W2K advanced, using NLB and SQL 2000.These SQL are in merge replication mode, which works fine. What we want is that the client connects to any of those two, but in case of failure, they automatically change over to the other SQL server. Someone said that using the NLB, it would do the trick. But it doesn't.
Question: does anybody has an alternetieve solutions for our problem?

I imagine you can do something with the audit logon Enabled and login failed attempts. Then fire an alert to this event wich also can run a job.

I'm happy to say that NLB does the trick. The problem was a utility from campaq 'teaming software' which does a balance load on the two nicks. We thought we had it removed, but it does go away silently.
We had to reinstall the server and within 2 hours we had the thing working.
