What happened to my sprocs?

  • This week while working on a project I modified several stored procedures used by our project.  They were tested and made us all happy when they worked correctly.  24 hours later the procedures had reverted back to their previous version.

My suspicion is that a maintenance plan or process may be to blame but having never dealt with this subject, I would be spending much time reading before I can figure it out.

I have no working knowledge of the current backup/recovery plan, and the information isn't readily available as the person who created the backup/recovery plan is no longer with the company.

Where would I take a look to see what is going on and how to monitor or adjust that process?

If the db schema is placed under source control, would it cover the store procs as well?

  • Look in Enterprise Manager, expand Management, expand SQL Server Agent. You will find jobs there. Look through them to see what they do. Find the area for DTS packages, see if there are any DTS's and figure out what they do.

My guess is that you have a job that is there is a job that restores backups from another server on a daily or weekly basis.

  • 1. You can check SQL Error Logs to see if there is any restore operation happened or not.

    2. I would suspect DTS or Restore operation.
