Need Help STAT!!! Can''t access SQL defaults et al after restoring Windows system file

  • Okay,

I am running W2K server abd I had to restore the system file in c:\winnt\system32\config

After restarting the machine, I had to reinstall some drivers and what not, but I cannot get SQL to start up automatically, nor get EM to run through the desktop shortcut.  I can get SQL to start by going to the Binn directory and running the executabel.

However, I cannot get the SQL Agent to acknowledge the default instance (only one installed) and when I enter into the server properties through EM, I cannot access/change the properties for the startup account.

I probably need to hack the registry, but don't know what values to change and to what.  My SQL install disk is scratched, so that is not going to work.

Any suggestions and solutions.  Thanks very much

And since I need an answer stat, I can be reached via email at zacharymc.harris@verizon.net

Better call a buddy and get a disk!!

  • It's solved.  Had 2 SQL Server disks and was able to rebuild the SQL Server registry with the second one
