THANK YOU MICROSOFT!
I can't wait to dig into the other views and functions to see what they can provide, but just seeing the queryplan that is in action is a BIG deal.
Also its great the plan is in XML so it can be parsed!

Hi all,
This is an extremely important set of views and objects that really opens up what is going on in the inside of SS, and MS has *finally* taken this very welcome step to allow us to look at this info easily. Btw, Oracle has had this functionality for a very long time - these were called "V$" performance views and were around since V7. I (and most Oracle DBAs as well) regularly use these to quickly determine issues in Oracle. In fact so many books have been written about this, I have lost count!
I mention all of this to say that we are possibly at the cusp of really being able to break into this black box of MS performance, and hence I am excited!
Regards to all,
