  Some SQL Server names are not visible when registering an SQL Server. How to hide an SQL Server from the list?

  Open Server Network Utility

  Select TCP/IP

  Check "HideServer"

  Selecting the opton will change the port to 1434.  Make sure that won't matter to how your application connects.
