We desired to install RS 2005 on SQL Server 2000. It is possible not to have SQL Server 2005 installed.
Thanks in advance!

We never even considered this! I'm pretty sure the answer's no.

Yes, this is possible. SSRS 2005 is a separate installation from SQL Server. I've just gone through an upgrade to our production server for the same thing; database is 2000, SSRS is 2005.

David, this is great news and we have been wondering about this in our company as well in order to take advantage of some of the features in RS2005 that are not in RS2000SP2 (namely multi-value parameter selectability), but another related question arises - can the RS20005 Client piece (report designer) be applied to the VS.Net2003 platform so that our developers with only that platform can take advantage of the capabilities and work with the RS2005 server (deploy, etc.), or would they all need to upgrade the development platform to VS.Net2005 (not a likely possibility for us)?
Thanks,
Dennis

The client tools can be installed but it will be in another application directory as MS Visual Studio 2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2005 \ SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio both pointing to the same exe. file. The development Platform is included in SQL 2005 and developers would be licensed to use it as long as they are developing the reports.
