I am now looking after a sql 2000 server that has a distribution agent that has been sitting unused in error for 3 months. The agent is a pull type.
There is one other agent in place that is running just fine.
Would the person managing the other server that was in the replication partnership need to remove it?

From BOL (Books On Line):
sp_droppullsubscription deletes the corresponding row in the MSreplication_subscriptions table and the corresponding Distributor Agent at the Subscriber.
If you are the owner of the database or a sysadmin on that server, you can execute the above system stored proc.
Be careful when dropping replication objects. As always, you should have both the create and drop scripts for each publication (you can do this through EM when you right click on the Publication object), so that it would be easy for you to re-install the publication if you were to make a mistake!
