Hi,
i am receiving this error while installing the SQL SERVER 2005, at the end of the installation.
the error is "An installation package for the product Microsoft Sql Server Native Client can not be found. Try the installation again using the valid copy of installation package 'sqlncli.msi'.
I have tried 2 or 3 times but generating the same message.
Please guide me what would be the root cause and what is the solution.
Thanx in advance.

have you tried reinstalling with "a valid copy of" as the message suggests? I'm not trying to be silly... seriously, perhaps your copy is corrupt. Try downloading a fresh copy. What was previously installed? When you tried installing 2 or 3 times what was still installed? Did you go through the complete de-installation process before trying again? The sequence of uninstalling is not totally intuitive; but still not that difficult to understand and is well documented. I would want to go, if not all the way through de-installation, as least far enough to get rid of the "Native Client" piece, and then re-install... preferably with fresh installation source. If you have had a copy of CTP installed here previously, there is a definite need to clean things up... or install a fresh OS image. Hope this is some help.

I encountered same error installing 2005 express edition on a laptop. Same install package worked fine on a server but got the error on the laptop so my guess is the package is not corrupt. Uninstalling, reinstalling also made no difference. I fixed the problem by downloading from Microsoft the standalone SQL Server Native client software and this installed fine. Then the normal SQL install worked without error. No idea what problem was but hey it did work.
