DSN''s created using machine data sources and SQL 2005

  • I am currently using attache business partner.   I am building a DW and delivery all the reports via 2005 RS.   In sql 2000 i could see the Faircom Attache Driver in the Export Datasources list.   In 2005 i don't see any of the machine data sources.   What do i have to do different?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I need to get this completed and i really like 2005 RS I don't what to have to go back to SQL 2000

  • I confess I don't really understand what you're doing, but it seems to me you are looking for a third party driver to export data from SQL 2005, which has already been installed on your old server - contact Faircom.

  • Thanks for the reply the ODBC is installed on the new machine.   I have tested it as i can connect to the Attache Business Partner infomation via EXCEl.    The problem seems to be that you can not see the machine Data source in the DTS import area in SQL 2005...   Can you use ODBC Data sources to connect via 2005 SQL Server...

  • Is the ODBC defined as a SYSTEM or a USER DSN ?

SQL = Scarcely Qualifies as a Language

  • One additional note, if you plan to schedule the DTS Package, the Data Source must be defined on the database machine and must be a system dsn.

SQL = Scarcely Qualifies as a Language

  • I have tried setting the ODBC as both a USER and SYSTEM DNS.  It seems to me that there must be a different way to configure the access to an ODBC connector?

  • Hi,

We are having same issue with a different ODBC driver (Unidata), can connect in the sql 2005 report  manager and excel, but the .net framework provider for ODBC does not display any system DSN,

    Have you had any joy

    Regards

    Paul
