My apologies in advance if this question has been asked and answered before.
We are in the process of planning an upgrade from SQL 2000 Standard to
What I am wondering is:
1) Can you upgrade from SQL2000 Std to 2005 Ent?
2) If we do this, is their any known compatibility versions with SP's, triggers etc?
3) Does anyone have any advice on doing this or is there anything we should avoid?
Thanks

To find out if anything in your current setup is not compatible with sql server 2005 go to the microsoft sql server homepage and download the upgrade advisor tool.
I have been using the CTPs to do some evaluation and SQL Server 2005 is certainly going to be worth upgrading to its just are you brave enough to move as soon as its official in November? Even although I know all my databases have upgraded fine I must admit I'll probably wait til the new year just in case and even then for the least critical databases first.
On the plus side some of the new features are great. But are you brave?

Yes, you can run the Upgrade Advisor tool as was mentioned by downloading it from here to run against your SQL2000 instance:
There is a link on that page showing you which version of the dotnet framework you need to run the tool (I know, the version changing is almost over soon and we'll only have one final RTM version of the framework). there is also a download link for the Books online that you can download afterwards and that will tell you if STD to ENT is allowed. Off the top of my head I would say I'm 90% sure that it's not, but you should check. I think only DEV > ENT and ENT > ENT is allowed due to the feature sets. You can see those contrasted here:
