RSConfig.exe error

  • I am getting the below error when running the rsconfig.exe.  The web server running Reporting services is in a DMZ on an external domain and the Database server is on the internal network.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The encrypted value for Configuration/Service/UnattendedExecutionAccount/Domain in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config file cannot be decrypted.

    Thanks,

  • hi frn, when installing the Rs key will be generated or it will be generated while running for the first time. while u r configuring using rsconfig or activating it key should match and they will be decrypted. if they dont match u will not gain access.

  • How do you get the keys to match if you're changing the ReportServer connection?

I'm trying to move the ReportServer databases from one server to another. I have SQL RS on a seperate server. So all I need is to do is to tell SQL RS to look at the new server. But every time I run the command prompt as explained here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842425/en-us, I get an error that says:

The encrypted value for Configuration/Service/UnattendedExecutionAccount/Domain in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config file cannot be decrypted.

    What step am I missing?
