I have spent many years raising my family but would like to return to the world of IT. How worthwhile is the MCSD certification. Does anyone have any knowledge of or know anyone who got certified at Koenig in India? They as MS approved and even allowing for air travel work out to be very reasonable.

From what I've heard talking to developers (and managers hiring developers), the MCAD/MCSD is less worthwhile career-wise for Developers than the MCSE/MCSA/MCDBA is for Server Admins and Database Admins. While it is never a bad thing to get certified, it seems that the development side puts less emphasis on certs than the operational side. This is just personal experience in the USA, so your results may vary.

Never mind - I just googled them - so you're saying that it's cheaper to fly to India - take the course and come back all certified ?!?!?!

I have the study guides, and plan on getting certified just because. My employer will reimburese me for the cost of the tests, so I don't see any downside to getting the MCAD or MCSD.
It's a way of forcing myself to learn ASP.NET or VB.NET or C#, and then getting proof in a recognizable form.
So long, and thanks for all the fish,
