Renaming a SQL Server 2000 Virtual Server

     Renaming a SQL Server 2000 virtual server is neither possible nor supported.

    Has anyone been able to overcome this, my client doesn't want to uninstall and reinstall SQL Server.  As a DBA you know my preference, but I need to present all options.

    No support - I would hope should stop them from thinking about it.

    If the # of clients are small, aliasing at the client level is possible. Also, if you just set up clients to connect to a TCP port, then the instance name doesn't matter.
