Installing Report Services is giving me a big headache. It's the 30th time !!!! And everytime I receive another error.
No I have :
This error occurs when you add a report server instance to a report server Web farm. A report server instance that you add to a Web farm does not become operational until you activate it. This is a separate, additional step that you perform after Setup is complete. | |
How do I do this ????? Is there the same troubles when installing the production version ?? Thanx in advance El Jefe |

There is an executable that you need to run that is included with RS. IT is called rsactivate.exe you can find out how to use it in the RS BOL.

Thank you, I have found the executable. But I can't get it working. It opens up a dos box, asking a WMI.
I am using the betakit. Can this be the reason ?
By the way, we have a runtime SQL version. Can you get then a product version of Reporting Services ?
thx in advance.

I believe you need to get a SQL Server license. I base this belief on "as Runtime licenses may only be used with a given ISV's solution." See http://www.microsoft.com/belux/nl/partner/isv/pip_faq_lic.mspx
It would probably be different if your ISV's solution included Reporting Services.
This is just my opinion. Check with your Microsoft Representative and/or your ISV provider.

ISV - Independent Software Vendor
Microsoft SQL Server Runtime is a special licensing of SQL Server that is bundled with an application. This version of SQL Server is only licensed for use with that application. If a customer wants to run another application on the system running SQL Server Runtime, they need a new license.
The supplier of the application and SQL Server Runtime bundle is the ISV.
Hope that helps.

the dos box asking wmi is displayed because it has a required parameter. Give path of config file
