Hi,
I can't get my server instance to start on startup.
It works nicely on my own computer, but when I try it on another computer, the SQL manager icon is all white/not connected.
I can't see the instancename in the server droplist, but when I type the computername\instancename it suddenly shows up and seems to already be running (directly shows 'running', not 'starting').
If this computer is connected to our network, SQL manager shows my own computers SQL server in the server droplist, but it isn't connected to it at startup.
Running 'net start mssqlserver$instancename' doesn't work ither. It only says 'Incorrect service name'.
I'm using MSDE and both computers are win2k.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
/Daniel

What's the instance name? Are you sure it's being typed correctly? Check it in the services applet.

Hi,
In a frustrated moment I cross posted this question , so maybe it's better to continue in this thread:
