The instructions for installing SP3 says to make sure you have enough free space in the system databases. Exactly which databases are they talking about? I assume its MSDB and MASTER, but are there any others? The instructions mentioned a minimum of 64mb and 128mb recommended. If I don't have that much free space, how do I increase it? On my MASTER db, I checked the space available from the properties and it shows less than 3 mb available. This is only a test system so no one is really using it other than myself.
The instructions did not say anything about stopping the Sql Server instance before installing the Service Pack, I'm assuming that it should be stopped, correct?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

HI Guy,
I'm about to do the same thing on our test server. I found the sql server 200 service pack 3a readme document very helpful. it lists the system databases which is what you have but also MODEL. it also explains about stopping and starting the instance.
you can find the document at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/servicepacks/SQL/2000/SP3ReadMe.asp
or you can go to http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads then you choose download sql server service packs and once there choose your language and then you should see where you can get to the readme document.
hope that helps, i haven't done it yet, but hope to in the next week.
Juanita
