sql server 2k and perfmon - counters and ranges

  As a newcomer to both SQLServer and perfmon, can anyone please advise in general as to what counters I should be monitoring and what ranges I should be looking for ? It's O.K. to collect all this info but what the hell does it all mean ! Is there a site out there that shows what ranges these counters should be falling in to and what it means when they don't ?
