  • I am an Access developer, and i recently completed the mcdba exams. i need information about making the transition from my current position to a sqlserver administrator. Any Ideas????????????????

  • If you normally work with access look at te potential for scaling to MSDE (SQL Server lite) and demonstrate the beniffits that way in your current position. This will give you a chance to show initiative and get experience in that area plus start pushing yourself in that direction. Otherwise you have to find an opportunity to demonstrate your talent or look for a Jr level SQL Server position.

  • I agree. You'll learn a lot by replacing some of the Access module level code with stored procs, get into security, do some Profiling, etc. I'd also suggest considering moving to a pure VB/VB.Net developer position, most corporate develop in VB shops is based on SQL.
