I need to diagram a db that has 306 tables. Does anyone know a good way to design it through EM or trial software? From EM, I added all the tables but realigning all the tables can be so tedious. If anyone has any tricks or good suggestions I would greatly appreciated them. Thanks for all the help..

Your choices AFAIK
1. Erwin - Expensive, but the standard tool. Works well, not as ergonomic as I would have liked. http://www3.ca.com/Solutions/Product.asp?ID=260 (interesting that it's an ASP page, huh?)
2. ER/Studio - less expensive than Erwin, works well for showing physical and logical models. I used this a few years ago and loved it. http://www.embarcadero.com/products/erstudio/index.asp
3. Visio - http://www.microsoft.com/office/visio/default.asp Has some reverse engineering support, nice for initial design, pain for continued work, IMHO.
4. Haven't used this - http://www.datanamic.com/dezign/index.html

I agree with Steve - ER/Studio. I have used it at two different jobs and it is my favorite tool for design.
I have tried ERwin also.
I have used Visio when I want to present it to the client on the fly or need to put in a document or presentation, but I have not used it to design databases.

Agreed..............
ER/Studio. A little more intuitive than Erwin.

Thanks for link.. I downloaded the ER/Sudio and diagram the db. It was fun trying to reverse engineer a 290 tables db. ;l
