I want to set up a snapshot replication between two SQL Servers (MSSQL7) over an internet connection.
Dows anyone know what ports should be open in our firewall?
Are there any other firewall considerations to be taken for merge/transactional replication?
Thanks,

I think you need both the FTP and SQL port open. Opening SQL port is not a great idea. You can apply the snapshot manually and avoid the SQL port I think.

Do you know what the SQL port is or how is it configured?
Also, can your reffer me to an article explaining how to use FTP distribution?
Thanks,

The default is 1433 but its common for it to be different. One reason is to try to provide a small bit of extra security, the other is if you have a named instanced. Dont have an FTP article handy, will look.
